Welcome to our new site!

2018/2019 Was an extremly fruitful year for the Foundation. We were not only able to open a new chapter of our Skischool in Humla, but we also opened the first Ski Lift in Nepals History. The lift is based on Kalinchok in Dolakha in a small village called Kuri at 3200m. Since there are several hotels and restaurants in Kuri it well deserves the title of Nepals first and only “Ski village”. Kalinchok has been a primary destination for Skiers, since it is only 6 hours from Kathmandu by Jeep and has decent snow cover from January-February. Therefore we were extremly happy to pull this off through donations and lots of help of our volunteers and partners. #skisnowboardnepal

Mar 2018 Skitraining on Kalinchowk

Our team made use of the snowfall in Dolakha and organized a major ski training in Kuri, the last village before Kalinchok. Due to the road connection, it only takes 1hr to Charikot, the porvincial capital, and 6 hrs to Kathmandu. Therefore Kalinchok and Sailung in Dolakha offer the easiest access to the snow in Nepal at the moment. Due to its “low” altitude of only 3450m the winter and ski season is relatively short.

In the end of february, the weather phenomenom called the “westernly disturbances” brought a lot of moist air from western Asia leading to snow fall in the Central Himalayas. This is the time to Ski in lower altitudes and bring people on the slopes. Due to its easy access, Kalinchowk in Dolakha is a great start to check out Ski and Snowboarding for a small budget. Also dozens of locals from the near town of Charikot were excited to learn how to ski and shred.
